What Trust In Car Check provides

Trust In Car Check gives you vehicle information and provenance information for a single vehicle you are considering buying, together with a guided inspection, things to check on that vehicle and a price comparison against a market value you enter.

Trust In Car Check is a buying assistant. It cannot physically inspect or mechanically diagnose a vehicle, and nothing in a report is a guarantee that a vehicle is mechanically sound or free of hidden faults. Any score, conclusion or wording in a report is produced by Trust In Car Check and is not produced, verified or endorsed by any data provider.

How you may use provenance information

By using a vehicle check you agree that:

  • I will use the vehicle provenance information only to assess the provenance, history and status of the specific vehicle I am checking.
  • I will not redistribute, resell or otherwise make the provenance information available to any other third party.
  • I will not use the information to create or contribute to any database, directory, index or lookup service.
  • I understand that the full VIN/chassis number is not shown, and I will not attempt to obtain, extract or publish it.
  • I will comply with applicable data-protection legislation when handling any information about the vehicle or its keepers.
  • I will not improperly cache, copy or reuse the provenance information for any later or unrelated check.
  • I will report any suspected misuse, unauthorised access or data breach to Trust In Car Check.

Vehicle identification numbers

To protect vehicle identity, the full VIN/chassis number is never shown to you and is never sent to your device. Where VIN information is shown at all, only the final few characters are displayed so you can match them against the V5C and the car itself.

Fresh checks

Every vehicle check you carry out triggers a new, live lookup for that registration. Results from another customer's check are never reused, and no searchable database of provenance information is created.

Retention and deletion

Provenance information is kept only for as long as it is needed for your completed assessment, and for no longer than 90 days. After that it is removed from your saved report automatically. You can delete a report, including its provenance information, at any time from the report itself.

Accuracy

Information comes from official and industry sources and is shown exactly as returned. Where no record is returned, the app shows “Not available” or “None recorded” — this means nothing was returned at the time of the check and is not a guarantee. Nothing is invented, estimated or simulated.

Reporting misuse

If you suspect misuse of the information, unauthorised access to your report, or any data breach, report it to Trust In Car Check as soon as possible.
